FOTOFACIAL
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is useful for the treatment of benign vascular and pigmented lesions. The purpose of a FotoFacial procedure, which uses IPL, is to improve the appearance of the skin. Redness, rosacea, sundamage, texture and pore size, and irregular pigmentation can be improved with FotoFacial treatments. Typically, there is no significant downtime with the treatments. During the initial few days, pigmented lesions become darker, and red lesions become purple or bruised and then they begin fading. Contraindications may include: pregnancy, use of medications that increase photosensitivity, diabetes, a history of keloid scarring, use of anticoagulants, a history of bleeding disorders, and recent or planned sun exposure. FotoFacial treatments are a series of five treatments at three-week intervals with gradual clearing occurring over this time.
