4. Use SPF-15 sunscreen or greater if any exposure to sun during treatment period or until area has completely healed (4 to 6 weeks following treatment.)
5. Expect some redness or swelling (or welting) post op. This converts to cat scratch scab, which should fade within 2 to 3 weeks. Vessels will appear dark red or brown and will continue to fade.
6. When cat scratch fades away, anticipate one of these responses:
- Vessels are gone.
- Some trapped blood may remain in some of the treated vessels. This will absorb into the body but may take additional time.
- Vessels may be lighter or not affected. You will need to have them retreated, or possibly sclerotherapy, to shut down the larger feeder vessels. treatment intervals generally are 4 to 6 weeks.
7. No hot baths or hot tubs for 5 days; hot water will dilate treated vessels.
8. No vigorous exercise for 5 days which would induce high heart rate to pump blood into treated vessels.
9. No aspirin or anti-inflammatory medications during treatment period; these drugs will thin blood and reduce clotting time. Use tylenol or ice for discomfort.
