This treatment program involves four mechanisms of action:

- Levulan® exfoliates the skin to unclog pores
- The peel that results from the photodynamic therapy results in a significant improvement in acne scarring
Levulan® Photodynamic Therapy can even work in patients who have failed Accutane®. Accutane® also treats the sebaceous gland, but has fairly toxic side effects. Levulan® Photodynamic Therapy is a very safe alternative that achieves dramatic results in 4 – 6 weeks. It generally involves 2 – 4 treatments to achieve satisfactory results

What is the new Acne Light Therapy technology?
The Blu-U Light photo clearing device uses new light based technology to remove acne lesions safely and effectively. It is a noninvasive, pain-free treatment with no side effects. Blu-U Light the first acne treatment device to receive FDA clearance for both acne vulgaris and pustular inflammatory acne. How does the Blu-U Light system compare to other acne removal treatments?

Which types of acne are effectively reduced through Blu-U Light treatments?
Blu-U Light targets surface and ducal P. acnes. Acne lesions not infected with P. acnes bacteria do not respond to light therapy. However, only about 10% of all acne lesions are NOT caused by P. acnes bacteria, so it will be effective on approximately 90% of acne cases. Additionally, the Blu-U Light may provide a good alternative for people who have developed resistance to antibiotic treatment.
