Midface/Cheek Lift

The skin over the face is analogous to a drape. The underlying skeletal structure determines the shape of the face. In some individuals, this framework is not as pronounced as in other individuals and they may appear to have a flattened face or small, recessed chin.

Facial Implants

Dr. Tye is able to add facial implants to the facial skeleton to accentuate the areas of the cheekbone, chin, nose, and angle of the lower jaw. By performing these skeletal augmentations, they are able to re-drape and tighten the skin of the face. This provides a more healthy and youthful appearance without the need for a more extensive skeletal reconstructive surgery. This cosmetic surgery is performed from incisions within the mouth with no visible scars. Immediate results are evident. Solid silicone implants are typically used. They are secured to the bone with a one or two small titanium screws to prevent the implants from moving. Different types and sizes of cheek implants are available to provide the most appealing look.

Midface

The midface is the area between the lower eyelids and the upper lip. In youth, this area is full and round and there is a subtle groove extending from the base of the nose toward the corner of the mouth. As we age and sun damage reduces the elasticity of our skin and fullness of our cheeks, the midface can become flat and a deep groove can develop. A midface lift repositions the cheek tissue toward its youthful position, reduces the depth of the cheek fold, elevates the corners of the mouth, and recreates a happy, youthful contour. The midface lift is particularly appropriate for those aged 30 to 60 who do not need a full facelift but who would benefit from higher, fuller cheeks. The procedure is usually combined with a browlift, however it can be performed alone.

The middle third of the face can also be augmented with a Midface Lift, Cheek Implants or with Fat Grafting. The options and recommended procedure for your needs will be discussed in detail by Dr. Tye.
