Before Anesthesia

 SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR IV SEDATION PATIENTS

  • Do not eat or drink anything for six hours before your surgery appointment.
  • Routine or prescribed medications should only be taken with SIPS of water on the morning of surgery. Notify the Doctor of all medicines taken 24 hours prior to your surgery appointment.
  • Avoid aspirin or products containing aspirin, and Herbal medications for five days prior to surgery.
  • A responsible adult must accompany the patient to the office, remain in the office during the procedure, and drive the patient home. A responsible adult must remain with the patient at home the day of surgery.
  • Parent or guardian must accompany minors.
  • Wear clothes that are loose-sleeved and loose fitting with a button down front.
  • Contact lenses, jewelry, tongue rings and dentures must be removed prior to surgery.
  • If you have an illness such as a cold, sore throat, stomach or bowel upset, please notify the office.
  • Brush your teeth before your appointment.
  • You will need an icepack when you return home. Icepacks are available for purchase from our office.
  • A responsible adult must remain with you for 24 hours after surgery. You are not to drive or operate machinery for a minimum of 24 hours after surgery.
